We have a few three-time guests on the show this week! We headed over to Council’s new tasting room and brewhouse in Santee, CA. It is about 11 miles East of their Kearny Mesa tasting room and brewhouse. The Santee location used to be Finest Made Ales (aka Butchers) and Manzanita Brewing. We are joined again by Liz and Curtis Chism (and baby Olivia.)
There’s some pre-show banter but then we get into it and Liz breaks down how this spot became Council’s new Santee location. From there we find out that Council has a really cool item they bought to help with buying beers to go and their strategy with their future of bottle and can sizes. We take a small break to get more beer.
We come back with kombucha talk. Council is producing their own kombucha that generally stays under 1% ABV. We ask more about their last year and what trends have they seen in their fourth year. Esthela wonders what beers will be brewed at Santee versus beers at Kearny Mesa. That transitions to the amount of beer they may produce with the new system. After mentioning one of their really amazing tasting room managers, Liz talks more about hiring people from the area and how it helps build confidence from patrons. We then go over the details of the grand opening of the Santee location which will be three days, June 8-10, 2018.
