While this may not be the first show you’re listening to in 2017, it is the first one we’ve recorded in 2017. We decided to do something a little different and do a show with our predictions for 2017. We are joined by the birthday boy Travis Hudson (craftbeerluv619) and the head brewer at Rock Bottom La Jolla Carli Smith.
In The News!
The 2017 Limited Mikkeller San Diego Beer Release Series (with at least one new beer will being released each week in 2017) that will kick off on Jan. 12 beginning at noon until closing at 10 p.m. Craft beer fans attending the Jan. 12 event will be able to taste the first three beer releases and meet internationally acclaimed brewer, Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, as well as the rest of the Mikkeller brew team. The fresh, small batch-release beers, indicative of the brewer’s Northern European roots, allow Mikkeller to get creative with ingredients and explore new flavors for exciting brews.
The first Mikkeller San Diego new beer releases that will be on tap for the January 12 event are:
- Fruit Face – a Berliner style Weisse beer brewed with raspberries and coffee
- Beer Geek Brunch – imperial oatmeal stout brewed with coffee and aged in bourbon whiskey barrels
- Uklar IPA – India pale ale hop series.

Travis: Breweries will start waxing only half the neck and cap of the bottle.

Brian: Cans will be unstoppable.
Carli: Societe and Benchmark will continue to make “Beer flavored beer.”
Social Media: Luiz Arroyo (sdbeernerd): More hazy IPAs 😉
Travis: Bobby Mathews will be the next Burning Beard sales rep. Special release bottles will find a way to be less chaotic to purchase.
Greg: An out-of-town #IndieBeer brewery will open a tasting room or brewpub in San Diego county.
Brian: Less than five breweries will open up as a nano brewery.
Carli: The craft beer bubble that will burst is not breweries but craft beer bars.

Carli: More transparency with beer festivals.
Travis: Drink more beers with people and not alone at home. Also to keep the streak of not drinking pumpkin beers.
