We are back at the Mission Valley Craft Beer and Food Festival, an annual tradition. Like most of the festivals run by PushPins Media, it was really laid back and flowed really well. As with previous festivals, we were given the VIP time to go around and try the beers, spirits, and food that was being served. Once General Admission came in, it was time to get to work! Enjoy the show
Karl Prohaska – Chef and Comedian & Rudy Pollorena Jr. – CRAFT BEERD
While he was not on the original docket, Karl showed up before our official first guest. We talk to Karl all about what he has been up to and how he is participating in The Five Chef Societe. The most current event will happen at the Societe 5th Anniversary Party, which unfortunately is sold out. However, you can always look for future events and we’ll try to let you know when we know. Then we are joined by Rudy from CRAFT BEERD. Rudy just came off of his fourth anniversary and recently branched off one of his most popular lines of artwork, Beerifornia.
John Hunter – Bitter Brothers Brewing Co.
John was supposed to be our first guest of the day but turned out to be our third. We start right off with an upcoming beer called Flesh and Blood, a Golden Sour beer aged in Blaufränkisch barrels with added cherries and raspberries. John talks a little bit about the beer dinners they are doing. Then a big announcement that they are going to start to can! To begin it will be Little Brother, Golden Child, Prodigal Son, and Family Tart. We talk a little bit about hazy beers and saturation in San Diego.
Brett Gent – Wiseguy Brewing Co. & Brian Mitchell – Pariah Brewing Co.
We are joined by Brett and right when we started to talk, Brain Mitchell joins us as well. We ask Brett first about his background and how it is opening up in the Brewery Ignitor program up in Carlsbad. Since Mitchell is also in the Ignitor Program in North Park, he is also curious about Brett’s opinion on opening up. We find out what Wiseguy will be brewing and how the relationship is with their neighbor, Rouleur Brewing. We ask Brian about his Clearly Juice IPA and how it came to be.
