We are live at Maker Faire San Diego! We spent two days there showing off what we do to the public. Of course we decided to record a show and interview a few other people. We were in the beer exhibit that was on show at the Museum of Man next to BEERology. Part one of the show was all recorded on Saturday with my co-host Travis Hudson, a.k.a. @craftbeerluv619. Let’s just say the first day was a little strange. We started mainly with just the two of us and no guests AND NO BEER! Hopefully you enjoy a lot of conversation between Travis and myself.
We start with a big disappointment from Travis that we could not 10 listeners to call in. Luckily the shaving of the beard will happen whenever Travis figures out when and where. It is for charity after all. That leads into a conversation about parents, alcohol, and kids. Which of corse brings the conversation of kids inside breweries, should they be allowed to be in there? Another question, should we make hats? Since we are sober, we decide to talk about cannabis and fish bowls, no it’s not what you think.
We changed up our recording setup by color coding our microphone setup so the mic cables and mic condoms match. Mostly it’s to keep the mics organized and to know which mics are used by who. We take a short break and come back talking about the drop in beer sales for some of the bigger brands. We take another break pretty quickly and come back to talk about Belching Beaver’s collaboration with Deftones to crate Phantom Bride IPA. We find that it will be sold at Bevmo which then makes us think of beer sold at Costco. Costco stores their beer room temperature and the secret is that you do not need a Costco membership to buy alcohol at Costco.
After another break we come back a lot more “happy” with our stomach full of beer. We get some exclusive information from Larry Stein that he no longer owns Steins Pub and The Ugly Dog Pub. The random things you hear at festivals and beer gardens. We talk a little about Travis’ social media question which Cody from Three B Zine responds to. We take another break and when we get back we start talking about South Bay and specifically Chula Vista. It’s perfect timing when finally we interview George from The Homebrewer and Home Brewing Co.

Eventually we are joined by George and we are so grateful. You really didn’t want to hear us the entire show. We talk about the rumor that he is looking for a spot in Chula Vista. That leads into even more South Bay talk. More talking about Three Punk Ales, Chula Vista Brewing, NOVO Brazil, and Groundswell. Their is plenty of talk about what’s going on down in South Bay and even some more discussion about what Travis is doing for work. There’s a little talking about how bombers may be a thing of the past and if we think Prop C will pass or not.
