We liked Rudy Pollorena Jr. so much the first time that we invited him back! Rudy is from Craft Beerd, a graphics art company that embodies the style of craft beer. That minimizes what Rudy has done over the last three years, please check out his artwork and you can buy prints on various forms of apparel and other canvases like glassware and wood.
The interview is mainly done by Brian, my voice was very weak that night. Mainly due to Festival of Funk and Open Forum that Cosimo put together. You can hear the entire open forum on SoundCloud.
Rudy starts off with talking about himself and how Craft Beerd was started. Rudy talks more about what put him on the map and that was the “crossword style” Beer Matrix where the names of breweries intersect on the design. Brian then moves the conversation onto some of his favorite items like the Craft Beerd San Diego Breweries playing cards. Each card has a logo of a brewery and was a collaboration with Craft Company. Next Brian asks about the Pocket Brewery Guide which is a small guide that lists many of the breweries in San Diego which you can take with you and take notes. Moving onto the next item, Rudy talks about the gold logo’d glassware that was around for a short period of time. And then back to a different version of the matrix. This version will be the last one since it is impossible to put 110 breweries on one shirt/poster/whatever.
Speaking of wearables, Rudy talks more about his decision making over the last few years when choosing hoodies. You’ll find out what it takes to find the perfect hoodie for his brand and his customers. We then move onto the main reason for the show, to talk about the 3rd Anniversary of Craft Beerd. The party will be held at Machete Beer House on Sunday March 20th, 2016 form 3PM to 8PM. Craft Beerd was also featured on the March 2016 cover of West Coaster! At the anniversary party you can buy a limited edition Craft Beerd t-shirt and 20-ounce can glass. Rudy coins the term #SouthBeerdUprising a twist on #SouthBayUprising.
